The Scranton Library Friends provide support to the Scranton Library in a variety of ways. Their fundraising efforts underwrite all library programs and other items not covered in the town’s library budget. Additionally, the Friends organize and run the popular Used Book Sale every summer, the Parade of Pooches dog show every September, and various pop-up sales throughout the year. Friends can be found re-shelving books in the library, baking goodies for library programs, sending library welcome letters to new town residents and doing all they can to support the library. We invite you to join us.
BOOK COLLECTION HAS ENDED
The Scranton Library Friends thanks everyone for their generous donations of used books for our upcoming book sale. Book Collection is now over. Sadly, we CANNOT ACCEPT any more books this year. The PODS in which we transport the books to Legion Hall are full, and we still have thousands of books left over. The bright side is that the heavy donations means this year’s sale should be a good one—don’t miss it!
USED BOOK SALE
Used Book Sale! The Scranton Library Friends invite you to shop for book bargains at their 17th Annual Used Book Sale on July 9-12 at the American Legion Hall, 43 Bradley Road. For the very best selection, come to the “Preview Sale” on July 9 from 3pm-6-pm. For $20 admission (consider it a donation to the library), you will get very first pick of thousands of books. The sale continues Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday 9am-5pm, and Sunday 9am-3pm. Donations have been heavy this year, so don’t miss out on this chance to scoop up books and media at low, low prices. All proceeds of the sale support the mission and programs of the Scranton Library. Thanks in advance for your support!
HELP AT THE BOOK SALE
Interested in helping at this year’s sale? We need dozens of volunteers the entire week of July 6-13. If you can move chairs or lift boxes, please help on July 6 or 7. If you want to help set up and organize books, volunteer on July 7, 8, or 9. If you want to work the sale itself (working as a cashier or on the floor), volunteer on July 9, 10, 11, or 12. Clean-up help also needed on July 13. Please call our volunteer coordinator, Joyce Rourke (203-421-0624) or email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up to help.
