How do I?


Get a Library Card?
Come to the library with proof of your Madison Residency. You will then fill out a paper with your name and address, phone number and email address for the notice of books on hold and to receive the library newsletter.

Find a book or DVD or CD or Book on Tape?
Come to the library and browse our large collection or call to reserve an item. But better yet, log on to the library's LION catalog to see what is available.

Renew a book
Click on My Account and log in. Here you can renew items online, add/update your email address, and request materials. You will need your library barcode to access your account.

Reserve an item
Click on My Account and log in. In the middle of the page see My Account. Here you can Renew items online, Add/Update your Email Address, and place a hold to Request materials.
You will need your Library barcode to access your account.

Research a topic
Go to the LION catalog, click on Advanced Search. Here you can fill out a form which will refine a search by title, subject, location, material. language, publisher and date.
You can also do extensive searching in the many iCONN databases (www.iconn.org).
You can visit the Library for expert help at the Information desk.
You can go to InfoAnytime for 24-hour one-on-one reference assistance.

Volunteer
If you would like to volunteer at the library please fill out a form at the adult checkout desk and ask to speak to Marcia. There are many interesting jobs for volunteers, who are needed daily.

Support the Library
The Scranton Library is a non-profit organization with 85% of the operating budget supported by the town. The remainder of the operating budget is derived from fundraising.

Find events-Library and Madison
Library events are listed under Events, in the Calendar, and on the Kids website.
Madison events can be found on the Chamber of Commerce website.
Area community events are listed on Guidezilla.

Connect with wireless services
Your wireless laptop or PDA has Internet access on all floors of the library building.

Find an Audiobook
The library has a large collection of books on CD, Play-A-Way, and cassette. Titles are constantly updated.
Subscriptions to both NetLibrary and Overdrive audiobooks enable patrons with Scranton library cards to download fiction and nonfiction titles to their home computers. The books can then be transferred to MP3 players or listened to on the computer.
