Chess Club is a program for children in grades 2 and up. Beginners are welcomed. Our instructor is Ted O’Neill of the Madison Knights club. Please check our calendar for specific dates and to register.
The Scranton Library sponsors a Destination Imagination Team of seven children in grades 3-5. Destination Imagination is a spin off of Odyssey of the Mind. It focuses on teaching team work, problem solving, creativity and independence. Our team manager is Ted O’Neill. We will have a lottery in the fall to select a new team. Check calendar for date.
Creative Computing with Scratch
A new program being offered in partnership with the Teen Department.
Scratch is a program that allows users to program their own interactive stories, games, and animations. Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively. This program is open to students in grades 4 – 8. Students registering should plan to try to attend all of the sessions, as the skills and projects build from week to week.
There are two registrations for this program:one for students who will be bringing their own laptop and one for students who need to use a library laptop. Please make sure you register on the correct list as we have limited amount of library laptops. Check our Calendar for dates.
The Scranton Library offers an outstanding summer reading program. We offer activities for both 1 to 3rd grade and 4th to 6th grade . During the summer months we ask that you register for each date individually. As Always please check our calendar for more specific info and to register.
