| What is the Nutmeg Award?
The Nutmeg Award is a Connecticut Children's Book Award which is decided by the children of Connecticut. Each year a panel of children's librarians, school library media specialists and teachers nominate 10 books for children in grades 4-6. They ask children in those grades to read the books and vote on their favorite title. The voting takes place in January and the winner is announced in February. The author of the winning book receives a special award. Only children in grades 4-6 can do the voting. It is your award to give to the author of your favorite book. So read, vote and join the fun. To see a full list of Nutmeg Award winners as well as previous and current nominees, look at the Nutmeg Children's Book Award homepage. The books nominated for the year 2009 for grades 4-6 are: |
