Sunday Concert, Dec. 11th @ 2:00 PM: A Renaissance Christmas

Get in the holiday spirit with A Renaissance Christmas, a performance of the beautiful classical music of the Baroque and Renaissance eras. Professionally trained musicians Eric Hansen, Dee Hansen, and Neal Humphreys will play selections from great early composers from 1600 to 1750, including Bach, Handel, Tlemann, Dowland, and Johnson. This beautiful Christmas music will feature lutes, voices, viola da gamba, and Renaissance and Baroque flutes. The performers will inform listeners of the historical and aesthetic contexts of the music and their instruments.


Preregister for 2017 Trivia Nights at the Library!

The Scranton Memorial Library is hosting a series of Trivia Nights beginning in January 2017! Space may be limited, so preregistration is available to library patrons. To register, email or call 203-245-7365. You may register as a team or individually. Please include contact information. For teams, contact information for just one person (i.e. Team Captain) is all that’s required. Trivia Nights will be on the first Thursday of the month from January through June (1/5, 2/2, 3/2, 4/6, 5/4, 6/1). Each night begins with players arriving at 6:30 PM to check in, and the first round starts at 7:00 PM sharp!


Charging Station for smartphones and tablets now available at the library!

The Scranton Memorial Library is happy to announce a Courtesy Charging Station is now available to patrons. The station offers eight charging cables for a variety of devices including tablets, iPhones, and Android phones. The addition of the Courtesy Charging Station was made possible by Essex Savings Bank’s Community Investment Program and Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale. Thank you to both organizations for their generous support of the library.

Scranton Memorial Library Open Houses

Learn about the many improvements and advantages of this proposal for a new library building. The kick-off celebration with wine, light refreshments, and tours of the building is on October 20th at 6:00 PM. There are several additional open house dates in October, November, and December.
