The Need:

• The existing library does not meet current State size guidelines for our population
• Noise and overcrowding hamper the library experience
• It has no parking - a severe problem for the handicapped, elderly, and those with young children
• The only way to return a book is to find a parking space somewhere in town and walk into the Library building
• The building predates ADA requirements and does not meet all building safety issues
• (Multiple) heating and air-conditioning systems are old and inefficient
• Educational programs for children and for adults are constrained due to lack of space
• There is insufficient space for public use computers
• Quiet reading, study, and meeting areas have all but disappeared
• Staff areas are scattered and inefficient
